"Bad Painting"

About

Arising in the late 1970s as a result of the the New Museum of Contemporary Art’s exhibition "Bad Painting," curated by Marcia Tucker, the term refers to a predominantly figurative, purposely raw style of painting developed in reaction to the dominant Minimalist and Conceptualist schools, which lacked gesture and emotion.
