Gothic Art
About
A term that primarily refers to Western European architecture of the mid-12th to mid-13th centuries. A distinctive characteristic of Gothic architecture is the pointed arch, and the primary type of Gothic building was the cathedral. Gothic cathedrals are marked by their innovations: thin stone walls, flying buttresses, stained glass windows and extreme height, which produced a transcendent experience for the worshipper.
